A cover letter (or the message you send with your application) tells the employer why you are a good fit for this job. Keep it under 200 words.
A simple structure
- Opening: the job you are applying for and where you saw it, for example “I am applying for the fruit picker role advertised on TAW”.
- Why you: two or three reasons you suit the job, such as experience, fitness, reliability or tickets you hold.
- Availability: your visa, when you can start and how long you can stay.
- Close: thank them and say how to contact you.
Tips
- Use the employer’s name and the job title. A generic letter is easy to spot.
- Mention if you have your own transport or are already in the area.
- Read it out loud once before sending to catch mistakes.
