Fruit Picking and Harvest Guide: What Is Picking Where

Quick answer

There is a harvest somewhere in Australia all year. Summer (December to March) is the busiest time in the south for stone fruit, grapes, apples and berries. In winter (May to October) the work moves north to Queensland, the Northern Territory and northern WA for vegetables, citrus and mangoes.

Last checked: 25 October 2026

Harvest dates move with the weather every year, so use this as a guide and check with farms before you travel. Picking is often paid by piece rate (per bin or kilo), but you must earn at least the minimum casual hourly rate. See pay rates.
