Quick answer
Book your first few nights before you land, usually in a hostel. Once you have work, a weekly hostel rate or a room in a share house is cheaper. Many farm, resort and outback jobs include accommodation.

Your options
- Hostels: the easiest way to meet people and hear about jobs. See hostels.
- Working hostels: help guests find farm work. See our working hostels list.
- Share houses: a room in a shared house, usually weekly rent plus a bond.
- Live-in jobs: farm, station, resort and au pair jobs often include a room.
Renting safely
- View the room (or a video call) before paying.
- Never pay a bond by cash without a receipt. In most states the bond should be lodged with the state bond authority.
