Payday Super: Your Super Now Gets Paid With Your Wages
In short
From 1 July 2026, employers must pay your 12% super at the same time as your wages, and it must reach your fund within 7 business days. Before this, employers could pay super every three months.
Why it matters for backpackers
Short jobs and leaving Australia made it easy for super to go missing. Now you can see it arrive each payday.
What to do
- Give each employer the same super fund.
- Check your fund app every few weeks.
- If super is missing, ask your employer, then contact the ATO.
- Claim it back when you leave with a DASP. See our super guide.
